MISSION STATEMENT
Frieth CEC School is a small, thriving village school. The staff and Governors of the school aim to provide, in partnership with parents, the best possible education for the children in the school. We aim to encourage an environment where pupils achieve optimum potential in all areas of personal, academic, physical, social, spiritual and moral development. The particular educational and developmental needs of individual children should be recognised and the school is established as a centre of interest, activity and support for the surrounding community. The ethos of the school is based on Christian values and emphasis is placed on the teaching and example of the life of Jesus Christ.

Established in 1865, Frieth c.E.c. School crowns the heights of the village.
*
sited in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the school provides a protected environment away from the "hustle and bustle" of the world at large
*
the catchment area encompasses the many villages of the Hambleden Valley. This unites both those villages and the children within them
*
pupils learn a great deal from the natural world around them, deriving pleasure from it throughout the seasons and developing their learning skills

Aims of the School
To help pupils:-

  • To develop lively, inquiring minds; imagination; the ability to question
and argue rationally and to apply themselves to various tasks and
    physical skills.

  • To develop self-confidence and self-discipline in their approach to learning.

  • To acquire understanding, knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to a fast changing world.

  • To develop personal moral values, particularly Christian values, and to
have respect for and tolerance of other races, religions and ways of life.

  • To use language and numbers effectively.

  • To gain understanding of the world in which they live and the interdependence between individuals, groups and nations.

  • To appreciate human achievements and aspirations.

A Healthy School

Frieth school has been awarded National Healthy Schools Status 2007

A healthy school is one that is successful in helping pupils to do their best and build on
their achievements.

The school is also committed to the promotion of a healthy life style for our pupils and
we aim to equip all members of the school community with the knowledge to be able to
make informed choices about diet, exercise and other health related issues.

Opportunities are provided both within and outside the curriculum for physical education
(PE). In the curriculum we aim to provide two hours of high quality PE per week to all
year groups.

  • As part of this, children in the Juniors have swimming lessons (usuall Years 4/5).

  • In Foundation Stage, physical activity is an integral part of the curriculum.

We enrich the curriculum in a number of ways, including inviting appropriately qualified professionals to contribute to curriculum special events and walks around the local community.

We also provide extensive opportunities for physical activity through out-of-hours
learning for all children
irrespective of age, gender or ability.

  • Clubs such as cross country, netball, cricket and athletics are seasonally available.

  • We actively promote and maintain links with local organisations such as Wycombe Wanderers Football Club.

The school has a multi-purpose hall and a large playing field.  A multi-activity Sports Day
is always a popular event for pupils, teachers and parents alike.
